Your first time at our Church
If this is your first time at our church here are a few helpful hints:
It's probably best to turn up around 9.50am. You will be greeted on the door by our welcoming team who will answer any questions you may have. You will be directed to the stairs or lift as appropriate, as our main Church is on the first floor.
No seats are reserved, so just take a seat wherever you like. There is always room. We have plenty of space for wheelchairs and pushchairs in the main Church.
What should I wear
This is easy. Wear whatever feels comfortable. We are an informal church and accept people as they are.
What can I expect
For most people going anywhere for the first time can be a bit nerve-racking. Here is a quick summary of what you can expect at Park Road.
We start our service at 10.00am with a variety of songs, some modern and some older and often activities in the main service involve the children. At 10.20 (ish) the younger people and children go to their own groups downstairs, we also run a creche for the 3s and under.
We talk to God in prayer, have a talk from the Bible that is relevant and meaningful to our modern lives, and respond to God with times of quiet, prayer and song.
Collection - during the service collection bags will be passed around, you are under no obligation to give, if you don't want to give this time just pass the bag onto the person next to you. Many church members do this in the service as they pay by direct debit monthly.
Communion - Once a month we have communion service in the morning (1st Sunday in the month) and in the evening (3rd Sunday of the month)
After the Service
We finish around 11.15am, and meet downstairs for fairtrade tea/coffee and biscuits (and sometimes cake).
Our aim is that whether you are just looking into Christianity or church for the first time, or have been a Christian for many years, you should be encouraged and inspired by being with us.
